Your first map
This tutorial takes you from an empty account to a working goal map with a few tasks. Everything here works the same in the cloud version and on your own server.
1. Start from a template (or from scratch)
After signing in you land on Projects. Click New project — the dialog has Blank and From template tabs. The fastest way to see what the app can do is a ready-made template: the gallery offers 38 of them (SWOT, PDCA, GROW, Business Model Canvas, …), sorted by category.
2. Meet the map
A map is a tree of goals. At the top sits the main goal — the circle with the overall progress ring. Below it are goal nodes: each has a status (To do / In progress / Done), and parents compute their progress from their children.
A few things worth knowing right away:
- Add a sub-goal with the + Add subgoal button on any node — the new node finds a free spot without reshuffling the rest of the map.
- Double-click a node to open its detail (next step).
- The main goal cannot be deleted — only renamed. Deleting it would delete the project.
- If the layout gets messy, use Tidy up (in the map menu) — it realigns the whole tree.
- The Portrait / Landscape switch in the top bar flips the direction the tree grows.
3. Open a goal's detail
Double-click any node. Here you set the name and description, the status, a deadline, the responsible person, an icon and colors — and further down you'll find attachments, comments and a task for this goal.
4. Add tasks
Small, concrete work belongs in tasks, not in more nodes. You can attach a task directly to a goal (in the goal detail → New task) or create free-standing ones on the Tasks page. Tasks have deadlines, assignees, comments and can repeat daily, weekly or monthly.
5. Watch the progress
Every project card on the home page has a Dashboard button: overall completion, progress per pillar, who owns what, what is overdue and what changed recently.
